I have a couple of beautiful full body skinned and salted dried fox hides...(still have the salt on them LOL) I want to tan and mount them...however I plan to use Krowtan (i used this b4 on a deer & elk hide and they came out perfect)...also have plans 4 a porcupine in same stuff next week...question...what is correct measures for 1 porky and 2 foxes (seperatly tanned)? On the foxes...should I do anything to keep the tails together (hair on brush?)...someone recommended me to run the foxes with Rittles super solvent in a washer...how do i encase the foxes if i choose this? or is it even necessary?

if your foxes are salt dryed is rehydrate in cold water until the hides are soft then proceed with the tan as usual. And as far as the tails go, run a wick through the tail...I cut a small hole in the tip and run a wire through the tail with a three strand yarn wick attatched at the end when the yarn is pulled all the way through with a good portion hanging out both ends I remove the wire and proceed with tanning. I have never had any tail slippage with this method, but if you have any doubts split the tail all the way.
Hope this helps you out.
wicking doesn't always work but splitting the tails does
What if i were to clip the tails out of the tan on the sides of the bucket? also what would someone recommend krowtan to water formula for the two foxes (full sized) and another formula for the porcupine using krowtan as well?
