Have everything to make my tumbler, and have read that there has been trouble with slippage with the Van Dykes mower wheel model, my question is what if I put air filled tires on one like that say about 10 inch has any one tried that? Thanks

What I found was that the only reason the Van Dykes tumbler slipped was that only one of the two axles was driven. The other coasted. I fixed that within days by putting a pulley wheel on the second axle, adding an idler wheel in the middle to adjust tension and used a bigger V-belt to drive both axles. Never had any slipping after that.

Thanks George

Oh yeah I used to do mower repair for a few years and I have either solid tire or air filled which would be better, all are in good shape?

The only time I ever had a problem with the drive wheel slipping, was when I had a large heavy hide in it. I simply put a strip of 2" wide masking tape around the drum where the wheels run. It has not slipped since. That was 5 years ago. however it does look like I may have to replace the tape this year. fast, easy, cheep fix.
