In response to an earlier comment from a beginner about having to cope with American products and 'de-code' them I thought I would put together a small list for the benefit of any UK beginners, who might be struggling with the (understandably) US centred language
Sawzall = sabre (or shark) saw
excelsior = wood wool
de-natured alcohol = acetone (poss also a main component of the much talked about Stop-Rot? although i am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!)
bondo = basic car body filler eg Isopon P38
wal-mart = Poundsaver!
And just to get all you americans really stirred up, just to let you know that i always find it easier to sew up a cape if I've got a fag in my mouth!
Anyone got any more?
PS - if you are a UK based beginner you should REALLY join the Guild of Taxidermists - that will also help you a lot.

Denatured alcohol is NOT acetone or anything near it. It is ethyl alcohol that has been made unfit for consumption by adding a poisonous chemical to it. Methanol is a good substitute.
corrected! Thanks for the info George.
STOP-ROT does not contain alcohol of any type. Just going off smell here.
I had a feller from Canada asking where to buy denatured alcohol. Up there it's called methylated spirits. Could be like that cross the pond too!
