Rabbit foot preservation

Hi there,
I've never done any kind of animal form or hide preserving or anything, but we "processed" our meat rabbits on our farm today and my daughters asked to keep the feet. I generally just get rid of everything but the meat afterwards so I have no idea what to do with these feet I now have. Is there a simple process for preserving them so they don't rot?

Thanks in advance!

Send them out to someone who can freeze dry them.

Kathryn, do you have a "frost free" refrigerator/freezer

If you do, put them in a small cardboard box with holes in it and freeze them. They will be ready about Christmas if you do that. There's actually not a whole lot of meat and fat on the feet of a rabbit and hanging them up in a barn will also work but the freezedry method is better. Your freezer will do that quite well, it just takes longer than the conventional freezedrier ( And it's cheaper).

You say you get rid of everything but the meat . Maybe someone on here will buy the hides from you . Rick
