Send to a reputable tanner. Wildlife Gallery or Carolina fur dresser's is who I use. Both great tan, but better service at Wildlife. Leave the whiskers on. Accidents do happen but I wouldn't worry about whiskers. Contact the tannery and ask them what you should do before sending and they will help you out.

No Problem here

I havn't had any trouble yet havn't been doing this long but so far so good. I did have one coon that had a foot messed up but no serious problems. I use Texas Best Stretch out of Conroe,TX. Great service and great turn around time 45 days! Softest, stretchyiest tans i've ever come across!

I always try to use a tannery

That I can deliver my hides to myself. Which in my case is Carolina Fur or Lone Star. I trust the tannery once they have the hides (and have always had good service from both), but I don't have much faith in any of the postal delivery services.
