Ok i just started taxidermy 2 days ago and i am doing a fish (Bass)
as my First specimen to Mount. I have skined it and i am looking
for any advice. One of the things i wount to Know what is easyer open mouth or closed?

Derek, It may be easier to do a bass with a closed mouth but making the mouth open looks much better to most people. good luck, Mark

Depends on whether you are mounting on a mannikin or not. Most all fish mannikins, at least for bass, are made for an open mouth mount. If you want to change to closed mouth, you must alter the form.
If you are using fish mix (fill), it doesn't really matter. If using filler, and doing a closed mouth mount, you may want to remove the gills before mounting. The gills only add mass (and therefore water retention) and may tend to mildew as the outside dries. In either case, you may want to keep a fan blowing over the fish as it dries to prevent mildew, and keep it in a dry area of your shop/house.
