Where do I get Potassium Permaganate?

Thanks for all the advice on my cleaning staining caribou antlers. Seems unamious to stain with potassium permaganate. Now where do I find it at? I've looked through my taxidermy catalogs and can't seem to find it. Is it something I should be able to find locally? Thanks again. Coop

I don't know where to find potassium permanganate but I use an appropiately colored wood stain and that works just fine for me. Just don't go too dark since you can always put on another coat. Wipe the stain off before it dries and it leaves a very natural look.

Your local water conditioning people should sell it to you. It is used in iron removal process in home water treatment systems.

I use the stuff for taking iron out of water and buy it in 6oz. containers for around five dollars at Sears. Don't treat this stuff lightly. It can burn and also stain your hands quite well.
