I know alot of taxidermy supply places sell dry preservative but the only one I've used is from Touchstone. I've used it exculisivly for years with great results from everything from caribou, deer to squirrels and birds. The phone number is 318-746-5792. They are out of Bossier City, La.

I've use dry preservative from Touchstone out of Bossier City LA ( 318-746-5792) for several years on everything from caribou to flying squirrels with great results. It's just the ticket for those of us who don't have the capibilties to tan or money to send it off to be tanned. Some of my mounts are 10 years old and still look as good as when I done them. I'll admit, there is nothing wrong with dry preservative. However, I wouldn't recommend it for large animals. Send the big stuff to a tannery. I would also say that someone sure seems to like Touchstone's dry preservative. There are several to choose from. Just look in any supply catalog. As for not having the money to send stuff to a tannery, that cost should already be figured into the price of that mount. Just the same as your labor cost is.
