I have taken the horns off of the antelope I put in the beetles, and
wanted to know if I should let them eat the flesh over the bone of
the posts? It seems that the horns won't fit on as good when the skull
is done if the flesh on the posts is gone. Is this the way to do it
and let the horns sit lower on the posts after it is done, or is there
something I can do? Thanks for any help, Eric

what i do is before i seperate the horns from the core, i drill a 1/16 inch hole at the base of the horn, both front and back,i drill into the core about an 1/8 of a inch. then when i'm ready to put the horns back on the core, i tap a 1/16 inch wire in the holes and the horns set back where they belong. hope this helps, i dont know if its proper, but its what i do. jeff

The reason you take the shells off of the core is to get rid of the jelly like flesh under the shells let the bugs eat it . or you will have to take it off anyway.
Good Luck
