Help

I'm a native of MO. currently stationed at Camp Pendleton. CA
I was a very avid hunter before I joined the corp. I would like to know if anyone could recommend any California classes or school I could attend to learn this wonderful art. I've always wanted to learn more about taxidermy , but I'm on a very tight scheduel. Are there any corrospondant classes out there?

Hands On Training

I started with a correspondance course and wish I'd gotten hands on training right off the bat. With a correspondance course your progress will move along at a snail's pace. If you are positive taxidermy is what you want to do, get private lessons. You can expect to pay the equivalent of $150 to $200 per day for anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. I started taxidermy 14 years ago with just reading material and crude drawings and looking back on that period of time, it was downright primitive. I started getting one-on-one training and joined my state assoc. and started going to competitions and trade shows about 5 years ago, and I feel like I've only been doing "real" taxidermy since then, even though I had already been in business for several years. Hands-on training is the only way to go. Good luck.
