Air compressor for air brush and shop

Submitted by Keith Keana on 12/7/99. ( keith.keana@usafa.af.mil ) 204.34.211.81

I am looking to purchase one air compressor to meet my future shop and taxidermy needs. I do not want to purchase one compressor for the airbrush and a second for garage/shop use. Wal-Mart has a special on a standard duty Cambell Hosfield 30gal compressor. Will a standard shop compressor with a pressure regulator provide the consistent air pressure that is needed for airbrush work? Or do I need to consider purchasing a separate compressor just for the airbrush? Thank you.

Yes, This air compressor will work for both. I sugest that you buy a
water trap (or even 2) for your line going to the airbrush. Troy

Troy is correct.

The 30 gallon will do most of a small shops need. a smaller one will operate alot.

A water trap at the tank exit when using air tools (oil tools daily) is fine.

When painting I use a additional one about 12 feet from where I am shooting paints.

Plus a paper filter (small oval plastic from the auto parts house ($5.00) just to make sure the air is clean at my spray guns for sealer and gloss.

Drain your tank daily when painting unless your climate is really dry. You will be suprized at the amount of water in compressed air. JC

Before you buy the one at Wal-Mart, check out Sam's Club (a Wal-Mart affiliate) if there's one in your area. You may be able to find one at an even lower price. Check out Sears, Montgomery Ward, Home Depot, etc. if you haven't already done so. Lot's of sales this time of year, and sometimes even better after Christmas.
