I am new to taxidermy and am about to mount my first deer. I have purchased a Sally Dahmes video, which I felt to be very informative. However, I noticed that Rinehart sells mannikins with pre-set eyes. Are they as accurate and easy to work with. The price is not that much more. Rinehart claims that they will fit any deer. Any thoughts on this?

Yes I would recommend using Rinharts form for the first
mount for the ease of preset eyes and allso the brain
ridge on the form makes it easy to correctly mount the
antlers. Take your time and have fun. Jim R.

What area of the country are you in? I would go with a form from a supplies in your geographic location. WHY, form for UPPER MIDWEST DEER will not fit SOUTHERN DEER etc. There are many variables within the whitetail subspecies. For instance many deer from KANSAS have 22-24 inch necks while just 6 hour car drive south east to Arkansaw few seldom het above 21 inch necks, 19-20 are the average. along with neck size heads sizes varie with in the subspecies too, length, witdh, depth. Hope this has helped. John C
