I've just got a phasant for mounting, through the mail and the tail is petty rough looking and bent around, is their any way I can smooth out the feathers and bend the tail straight. Thank You in advance for any help.

The best way I know is to steam it. after you skin the bird and flesh it lay the tail ( spread out flat) between two soaking wet cloths and keep passing a hot iron over it forcing steam into it. After a while you should be able to bend the shaft straight. This will uaually solve the problem.You can blowdry the tail after with a hair drier. Good luck...JL
