For the past two day my immediate family has hunted ducks on her family farm. We did not build the blind and the decoys we set by (DANDY totally change name)
Thursaday morning DANDY came over to the farm explained he had built the blind and wanted to know who was hunting from it. All of us talked to him and he seems ok about it as we would only be hunting this weekend and there just are not many ducks at this time.
On the way home my son said "Dad thats the guys name that wanted the ALBINO DEER (see COST of Advertising) mounted for free. We thought nothing more of it. Checked with my brother in law and sure enough my son had been correct.
WE were eating lunch at the Ramada Inn yesterday Brother-in-law #1 said he had some good afternoon hunts on the pond.
Wife and son wanted to deerhunt yesterday pm. I said "I would go checkout the pond and see if PM was any better.
Sure enough ducks everywhere.
I was having a great time.( I shoot a lot, but ain't a great wing shot) i.e. miss ok.
Here drives up DANDY, gets out of his (he lives about 2 miles from the pond and watches it like a hawk) truck, starts yelling about his blind, his decoys, he ought to just whip my (yeahaw) for using his stuff, and if I dont leave he is going to call the game warden and tell them I baited the pond. (remember this is not his farm, the farm and pond belongs to my wifes familys)
I think whats he talking about BAIT? ok fine, I grab my stuff walk out straight to him, thinking if old boy wants to TRY to whip my rearend heres his chance, I have been hit before no problem. While leaving I turn a decoy over with a wave there is his name on the bottom. I said "Who are they going to beleive about baiting you or me? Your name is on the bottom of these decoys.
His words got heated, so did mine.
Then came the statement about well your Sons a F&^%^&* blanketty blank rip off on his taxidermy work. Hey talk bad about me all you want, talk bad about my family, somebody is going to get their tail wiped. Chase ensued, me in waders, and old truck, him in his new 4 X 4 chevy silverado. I stopped at the gate, he drove down the highway.
Well the sheriff had already been called on me.
I told the sheriff I had ejected a trespasser and a poacher.
That ain't the way the sheriff heard it. I was hunting over bait, and thats, that.
I ask when they received the call, he said "About 30 minutes ago and he had taken it personally at the office (30 minute drive from the pond on a good day).
I told the sheriff "I left the house about 45 minutes ago, its a 15 minute drive, so you must have been called when I came thru the gate to the farm.
Sheriff called the office checked the computer log sure enough they had been called from the DANDY TRESSPASSERS HOME PHONE.
Sheriff and I went and looked sure enough fresh dry corn and wheat seed all along the east side of the pond behind the brush where you could not see it from the blind. Feed bags were still there too.
Late last night the sheriff called they had some good finger prints and the matched DANDY TRESPASSERS (who has been arrested and convicted for spotlighting deer three times, hunting mig. birds over bait 2 times, over possession limit of mig. birds, fish too.
DANDY TRESPASSER has a 3 years suspension on hunting and fishing privleges, because of convictions. These have happened in many different countys.
Last night he was caught with a unchecked deer head in his truck, nice 8 pointer too.
Now I ask, would it have been any benefit to do a lifesize mount free, for a year of free advertising for a known poacher? I dont think so at any price for this DANDY POACHER.
Possession of unchecked deer is a vioalation in my state. Even for the taxidermist!!!!
One lesson learned is to ask where the deer was checked, and have the sportsman sign a statement that the game was legally harvested, according to State and Federal laws.
This afternoon we the family will remove the bait with a front end loader.

Had a pond full of it. B-I-L #2 was just here. Loaded the Dozer. There are several roads into the place, by this pm there will be only one.
I guess this lesson is to research the laws on possession of game in each person state. It could even get to the point of the FEDS coming to get poached birds and other game as evidence. JC
