Why would you want too?

A grey squirrel is not a black squirrel and vise versa. So why change
it? Taxidermy is the art of preserving one of God's creatures the way
it is found in nature not the way you want it. I do not want to sound like
a jerk but that is how it is supposed to be. Why don't you try to find a
black squirrel. If you do not have them in your area find someone or
somewhere that does.

Good luck

A black squirrel IS a gray squirrel!!

Not to cause a disturbance on here again but a black squirrel is just a color phase of the gray squirrel. In fact it is very common in the area where I live, more so then even the gray-grays (does that make sense?). As to coloring a gray to black I have no idea, I have assisted in making a black bear cinnamon, but that is all!

Well, Jim...

...could you get Richie a black squirrel? Sounds like the easiest solution! Later, guys.

See Georoof's post on deer. Same goes on with all tree rats

Fox Squirrels tend to be melanistic more often than Grey's. But read Georges addendum on deer. this explains it all very well. JC
