liquid tan on mounted deer

What is the best method to remove the oily residue left on a deers cape once it has been mounted. I believe I used to much liquid tan and it seems to have left a oily residue on the mount. Thank you in advance. Dave

After letting the liqua-tan penetrate, did you tumble your cape? I always do this, it removes any excess oil. Good Luck.

I got a suggestion once that told me to wait for the mount to dry thoroughly and wash with shampoo and conditioner. Towel dry, groom, and let air dry. This should get out all that excess liqua tan. Tumbling before mounting helps also helps.
