I am SOUTHERN BORN! SOUTHERN BRED! So stuff the crap, My family reside on HOMESTEADED LAND in Arkansaw (correct spelling)My ancestor's were in Jamestown, moving to the Carolinas were many of them married Native americans. As they moved westword the left their spawn in Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi moving up and across to Tenn. and Arkansaw. 1836 found Arkansaw attempting to get become a state, Both side of the family ancesters where in the party that went to Washington several years before to get this rolling.
My brother resides in a house on homesteaded land, the house was originally built 2 years prior to the "WAR BETWEEN THE STATES" Civil war to Yankees. Additionally many of my ancester served in ranks from PRIVATE thru General in the Confederate ARMY. C.S.A. Pres. Jefferson Davis grandmother was a Summers many of which are buried in a large family cemetery north of Harrsion, Arkansaw.
when you deep south guys look through a phone book and you see names like Davis, Holt, Logan, Moses, Rose, Summers Wyatt, Beuargard (spelling), Mosby, Roberts, Riddle hte list does go on. By Gosh they could be Spawn left on the trail.
So I make NO APOLOGY for the Southern crack.
As for D.P. most mounts done with it don't last as long as leather. John C

from you. If you read my post you will see that I was not asking for an appology from you or anyone else and I never will. I am greatful to the people on this board who have helped me get started in taxidermy and will forever be greatful. I know people like you and I really feel sorry for them, because they have a tough life and I hope the best for you. I have many friends who live in northern states and, thank goodness, none of them are of the same character you are.
As for D.P. lasting as long as leather, well, that remains to be seen, doesn't it!
Good day, John
Tony

Back to the DP debate, it's not a north - south issue, it's not a $$$ issue.
Isn't it real a climate issue. Think about it, warmer year round weather,
thinner hide deer, DP can work.
Here in the cold north (Wis), our thick skinned deer, often never show
those wonderful facial features, someone so carefully sculpted into their
deer forms. Even shaved thin.
Here the debate, if it really should even exist is paint-on cream tan
(after salting & washing) vs the proven methods of acid pickle and a
good soak in a quality tan (ie - Lutan F, etc)
So let's leave the North-South issue and return to taxidermy method debates.
