Cleaning a deer skull

My 14 year old son shot his first deer (an 8 point) and we want to do a "European" mount with the bare skull. Are there any tips on how to get the last bit of meat/tissue off the skull? We've already boiled it and have removed most of the meat. Thanks.

Pick, pick, pick

Did you use sal soda? That turns the meat to gel. Otherwise all you can do is pick at it till its gone! Use a dental pick, needle, sharp knife, whatever you have on hand. You may have to boil it again, depending on the amount of meat you've left on because of the grease it'll leave.
Good luck!

Bob, I'm assuming that you did the best job you could when you boiled the skull, but its not quite as clean as you expected. Bruce Rittel is an expert in this area and has a website on the Taxidermy Net under "chemicals, etc.". Go there and find his product TRYPSIN 5100 and read what it does. I think this is your answer. Good luck..JL
