Are holes in hides supposed to be sewn after sinning while the hide is still raw, or after it has been tanned?

Henry, It is best to sew the holes after the hide is tanned. Eddie B.

Henry, Iwork at a proffesional tannery where my main duty is shaving
hides and i can tell yyou unless you want to sew up your holes twice
wait until after they have been tanned cause to get a good tan the
hide must be shaved extra thin. Also the seam could get caught on the
rotary knife and the hole you are sewing could be larger than what
you started with.
