I messed up! Need Help!

Submitted by Melanie on 5/6/99. ( johnson2@brightok.net )

I recently did several birds without the knowledge of using a tumbler. The feathers were wet, and are now "plastered" to the skin. Is there any way to fluff the birds now that they are dry?

Resaturate ?

Melanie, are your birds already mounted? Im not understanding at what point your at right now, because usually the feathers are blown dry befor the mounting process.
Are they your birds? If they are, I'd play around with re-saturating them and blow dry them on the forms.
Give us more to work with, concerning the step your at in the actual mounting. Hope to help.

Melanie, you dodn't need a tumbler for birds at all. But what you need to do is this. Try to soak your birds in acetone, then blow dry them. This should fluff up your feathers. Becareful if your using a hair dryer. It can prove deadly. If you have a air compresser use that on low air. Good Luck

Birds washing and drying

Melanie, you do not need a tumbler all you have to do is soak your bird in coleman fuel after washing in dawn dish detergent or era laundry soap. then after you soak in gas for about 10 mins. fluff in 20 mule team borax. when your bird is semi dry. blow with hair dryer until desired fluff. this is a proven method for ages. p.s. if you want your birds a little softer add a little snuggle or downy to you wash bath . good luck Mark
