ear liners

Can someone explain how ear liners are installed on a snowshoe hare? Are they tucked under the skin and glued in place after the cartilage is removed or are they simply glued to the inside of the ear after the cartilage is removed? Thanks.

Snowshoe ears

Kevin,
I've never used an earliner on a snowshoe or jack rabbit. The ear is a cooling system for hares and rabbits and are translucent and extremely thin. On the tougher specimen, I remove the meat at the ear butt and open the ear. I use a syringe and inject clear epoxy up in it after I've powdered the ear with dry preservative. Then I card the ear using the rat wire and plastic screen that WASCO sells. If I can't open the ear without tearing, I stop and using an insulin syringe, I inject them with liquid preservative in as many places as will take it. Then I card the ears.

Thanks George, are the ear canals filled with bondo or some other filler?
