I am just getting into taxidermy and I am fixing to mount a coon. I have already mounted a squirrel and it turned out pretty good. I was just wondering if there was any specail way that I needed to skin or mount the coon.

Make sure ya use a good degreaser...them are some greasy critters. I use
Bruce Rittles Super Solvent on mine---worked great...you can also use white gas
but super solvent is safer for you and the environment..do a dorsal cut on him,
and when ya get to the pads of the feet--take it all the way to the last bone--there
is a fancy name for it but I can`t remember what it is....you`ll know when your there..good luck

When ya get to the feet just keep inverting them to the base of the claw--
don`t cut the pad of the foot...when your ready to install fur on manikan
take a calking gun and fill the toes and pad up with calking...they`ll fill
right up...another tip on removing the cartlidge from the ears is to do it after
the pickling process..use your thumbnail and just keep peeling it away...all the way
to th edge..

But not removing the cartiladge until after the pickling process could lead to hair slippage
