I was wondering is the best way to send birds , fish, ect from coast to coast? Even deer heads .the problem that i have been coming across is that they dont want to send any thing that is frozen and will have a chance of bleeding during shipment , witch is understandable.im sure taht it isnt a good prctice to be doing sending things that are frozen but im sure that i will have to deal with it sooner or later.Thank you Tyler.

Why can't you get frozen specemens. Have them ship it 2nd day air or overnight. Never had a problem yet with any messy stuff.

Tyler, I've been shipping frozen specimens, both frozen hides and frozen whole to other taxidermists around the country for the past half dozen years or so, and only once experienced a problem. That was a 2 day shipment by UPS, that for some reason unknown to me, they decided to take 3 days to deliver. I always suggest next day air for frozen goods during the summer, that way if the same problem resurfaces, 2 days still assures the item is received in good shape. During the winter season 3 day select is sufficient for most shipments. Certainly next day shipping is expensive, especially if considering purchasing a larger specimen, like a bobcat or beaver, but in most cases you are able to purchase frozen hides which ship for considerably less. When you look at the whole picture, the shipping is only a small part of the equation anyways, so when you consider the cost for quality forms, eyes, bases, etc. and the shipping charges on those, the few bucks more for next day shipping vs. 2 day is trivial and worth every penny when considering the purchase of frozen specimens.

The above answers hit the nail right on the head. However another point to remember is that the later in the day you bring a frozen specimen to the shipper the better off you are. Seems that everything goes on the same plane no matter what time of the day it is taken in for shipment. So leave your specimen in your freezer till the very last minute. Good luck.JL

Thanks for the help guys , and to let you know why i had that question is simple .I was told by my local ups that i couldnt send a hide taken to them ,she really got excited when she read on my shipping slip what it was .Not until i explained that it was salted did she take it ,she then proceeded to tell me that they would not take hides that were frozen . thanks again
