i currently have a paasche double action air brush and have had fairly good luck with it but i have also had what are probably typical problems with paint shooting through it both laquar , and acrilyc. I have recently heard about the azteck and had to get some second opinions on how it was in all aspects compaired to the paasche. Im sure i already know what the answere is going to be which is " Its personal preference" but im sure that i can atleast get some sort of opinions that might help me . Thanks

Hi ono,
I have used both Paasche and Aztek. I just use my Aztek now and wouldn't trade it for anything. I paint a lot of fish and have no problems with it. It comes down to what you personally are comfortable with. Good Luck! Tim

There are pros and cons to each of these brushes. I at one time and still do use my pasche at time for a quick spray of heavy materials. Formost I choose azteck was the versitillaty it had. But I found one of the best things I like about there brush is, if you drop it( and I drop it alot with carple tunnel ) no bent neddles, and I can use a neddle for a year withoput changing it. The secert here is kepping the innner part of the neddle clean. It gave me the spot patterns I was looking for. It's lightweight, lifetime warrenty, and many more. I even had trouble with two of my brushes and one time. I had to take it apart ( don't ever do that ) and found I needed a hose for the brush. I called the company told them I needed part # -- and they said they don't sell parts. Pissed I was because of there garuntee would not cover if taken apart. I told here my position about what I do and why I did what I did. I was told to send it back for repairs. It was back in 4 days from when I sent it. Fixed or replaced with a new brush. And no extra charge, FREE. Now can your company offer you that. So thats another reason I chose them. But all in all thin paints will work with any brush. The choice will still be yours. Good Luck and Happy Painting

I used the Passche for a long time, had three of them, in fact. Then I was given the Omni and vega from Thayer and Chandler. I love the vega. The big thing is to use the right paints, though. I switched to the Polytranspar system from WASCO, the host of this forum. There are some new paint co out there who are supposed to be good, too, but the polytranspar hasnt given me a reason to try elsewhere. I no longer have to strain paint all the time. I do thin them and mix, but thats my personal preference. I feel that my paint and finishing work really help my mounts look alive, and I attribute it to the equipment I use, period.

once I get rolling in here I feel compeled to add input everywhere.
Personal preference is the main thing when it comes to airbrushes.
I got used to the Passche double action, and have never been convinced there is anything better for my style of finishing. I am the slop and overpaint king. I like to take away what I don't like as opposed to adding.
I will say, I have use many others and I personally like the pasche for mammals, but I reccomend the aztec for fish.
and yeah, I bend a lot of needles by dropping the danged thing, and it does require a regular cleaning. but I'm used to it, and if it aint broke, I'm not gonna fix it.
In case you can make it, I'll be doing a finishing seminar at Billings, using my trusty sometimes(rusty)doulble action.
see ya
Bob

Have both and I still prefer the Pasche. I can get increadable detail with it and it still works after several thousand fish for the ultimate in details I chose the SOTAR. Its more costly but"YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!" John C
