i tanned a deer cape with curatan and know i've noticed excess shrinking i have some hide relax from van dykes should i go ahead and mix that up and up my deer cape in it and then strecth if needed? or should i just rehydrate and then stretch?

Ok first off all is your hide shaved down thin? Did you let your hide dry out first before you mounted it or did you mount it right after you laid on the curatan? If your hide is not thined properlly this will always give you the shrinkage that we all don't need, no matter what tan you use. Next time you may what to try liqua tan or Rittle's ez-100 tan for you needs. I used curatan and found I had the same troubles. Also I didn't shave my hide either. Got the same results. Then I learned how to shave them down thin and never had a problem with the above tans.
