This past weekend, I think I hit the mother load of powder jockeys. But what I did find are some guys that are really afraid to raise thier prices.
$185.-$200 for deer $65-$95 on ducks.
I also found out one of these great Taxidermist cannot ad dollars and scents.
No I dont intend to belittle some here.
The taxidermist tells me it only cost $43.00 to do a deerhead. He also pays about $35.00 to have a person fleash the cape. Has modern math changed? doe not the sum of these numbers amount to $78.00. This leave him $105.00 befor taxes. All this for six to seven hours work?
$185.00
-78.00
______
$105.00
- $35.00 federal taxes
equals $70.00
---$30.00 state taxes
leaves$40.00
minus $25.00 Fica
$15.00 for six hours work.
What thier numbers tell me and you is they are cheating the goverment, Fed. STate. and Social Security.
My suggestion to everyone is to get a book keeper and pay thier taxes. It will catch up.
You are still responsable for ALL TAXES even when you have filed bankruptcy.
The excuse of to much competition is B.S. and the local work force cannot afford more, right there in that same bucket.
GuyS and Gals if your working for sub minumium wages, wake up there is enough business. I see some very good powder jockeys out there. Its just they don't have pride in thier work or thier self.
HOw do you start raising your prices? Go up $35.00 today on your deerheads. and $1.00 per inch on your fish. How about those birds? $125.00 guys not $65.00 You and I both know it takes about 4 hour just to get a duck halfway right.
Preaching to the singers. John C
