I want to give a hearty thanks to all that have helped me on this forum. I attended the Association of Indiana Taxidermists' convention and competition this past weekend. I learned a lot from the other guys and gals, both by talking/listening and by observing their mounts. I mentioned the Forum every chance I got. A lot were not aware of it. I also got brave enough to enter the amatuer division with 2 deer heads. They were the second and fourth mounts that I have ever done. I was very pleased with my scores and the comments from the judge. tee hee hee, he thought I had been in the "business" for quite a while. He was visibly shocked when I told him I had only mounted 4 deer heads. I got a 70 on the second head and 78 on the fourth. Now I have a lot better idea of what I'm doin right and what not to do. I owe it all to you guys, because without your help, I would not have had the confidence to enter the competition. Thank you very much guys and gals. Sincerely, Turtle

Now you know why shows are stressed so hard. WHere else will you get so much knowledge for so little money?
Put another one togather now with the knowledge you have, and before you forget it. John C

Turtle, thats great! I would do exactly what John said.I always keep my scoresheets handy when I mount a competetion head. That way I can use the judges coments on the paper as a guide, along with the judges verbal views you'll see things you never really saw before your previous mount.Keep attending those shows... it'll only make you a better taxidermist.Congrats again..Dean
