Different kind of airbrush question

Submitted by LH on 3/9/1999. ( )

Although it's not a taxidermy ?, I hope you experienced airbrushers will help me. My boy has finished his pinewood derby car and has asked my to paint it using my Paasche. Due to short notice, I don't have time to order airbrush paint, per se, but was wondering if I could thin down regular model paint and put it through the air gun? has anyone ever done this? Thanks in advance.

Hey LH, make sure it's water-based if you use model paint. If not, read the label it should tell you what to thin it with. Acrylics work well too. You can pick them up at K-mart or Walmart. They for sure can be thinned with water. Look in the crafts department. (you know, back where the flowers and other such stuff is) Not that I would know where the flowery things are. Turtle

If its not waterbase. You will need to thin with MINERAL SPIRITS. I used this stuff to paint fish for years. John C
