Just want to preserve skin

I want to preserve (tan ?) a couple of deerskins. I skinned them off of the deer and folded and froze them a few weeks ago. Everytime I think I find some advice in a forum it turns out to be for mounting a cape, etc. That is far beyond my ability right now (I use a prof.) I just want to preserve the skin as a rug to go over a chair or something. Could someone give me simple instructions from beginning to end? By the way, I know very few terms of the art, etc. Thanks in advance for your help (and patience. RB

check "tanning" 10/11 about tanning, then check the tanning heading. Hope this helps.
