I'm sure ya'll will think this is a silly question but what is "drumming"? I hear talk about how to prevent it but I don't understand what it is that I need to prevent.

Hi Donna,
Drumming is the term used to describe when the hide pulls aways from a concave (inside curve) surface, such as the inside of a deer's ear. When this happens, there is an air gap in between the hide and the body form....John

Donna,
Drumming is what happens when the skin dries and pulls away
from the mannikin. Its called drumming because the skin pulls
tight like a musical drum skin. drumming can occur in any
recessed area. the most common areas are the inside ear skin,
the "arm pit" area at the brisket and along the facial detail.
common causes are no glue, an unprepped mannikin or an oily
skin. theres more, but this will give you a start.
