Paul , the yellow/gold markings on the sides and head.Should I try and paint each scale or paint the side yellow then brown?some scales have yellow centers with brown edges. I have two paint schedules and not sure wich is best.I use a paasche vl and water base paint. this is my first walleye. Thanks, Jim

Get yourself some gold metalic wax like treasure gold or others on the market and a good quality #2 or 4 filbert artist brush. Hand tip the scales and highlight markings on head and cheek where you want these spots to show.I always do this before painting and sealing, seems to give more natural look when done.
You'll also see that the filbert brush has a nice rounded edge making it easy to tip scales with. If you need further help drop me a line. See ya.

The latest issue of American Taxidermist has a very good walleye paint schedule from John Lager of Colorado.
