aleaping duck from water surface. How would you connect the rod and what size 1/4 or 3/8 for a Mallard or Pintail Drake. Drill hole in form and hot glue? Maybe. Need some ideas break through does not cover that.

at least 3/8 to 1/2 need to drill a hole in rod that you could put a wire through the body and the rod to keep it from turning just for added security.

What I use

You will find that the 1/4 is too small , the 3/8 will work but keep to a short length of rod. I use 1/2 or 5/8 for the bigger ducks. As for the attachment, I bore the smae size whole as the rod almost all the way through the manikin. The then go through the side of the manikin (at 90 degrees to the rod) and bore a 1/8 hole through the manikin and the rod. Then run wire through the rod and manikin and tuck back to secure your rod. This will prevent the mount from ever spinning.
