Got a call from a lady that found a blue jay in the woods dead. She was on a hike that was sponsored by the local township.I live in N.J. and was wondering if anyone knew the legality if mounting the bird. thanks P.C.

Every year thousands of birds are wasted by road kill. Yet it is against our laws to mount them.

Have her call a school, a public library comunity museum. They will have to apply for the permit to the feds office for your region. Then once they get it you can mount it. I would keep a copy of their letter to you and the feds FOREVER (cant say it loud enough here) this is about the only way possible.

P.S. the leter or application must state whom will be allowed to stransorpt the specimen.
