I am trying to mount my second turkey and this time using a wire wheel to defat and clean the hide. I am having a problem with getting it all clean between the quills. if I push hard, this area starts looking like swiss cheese. But if I go over lightly it looks like little snow balls on the end of quills I can't get it all off.
I know this is probably too little info, but any pointers on using the wheel would be greate. on the non-quilled areas this is working great. Also should the end of the quills actully be bare?
Anyway any help would be great.

After skining I take borax and rub it into the skin then i get a smoke and wire wheel the whole bird the borax seems to break down the fat better and makes it come off easier
the borax is good... but u will need to leave the SNOEBALL on the end of the quills.. if not they will pull out... been there dont that... not going to do it again...lol get the bulk of it out with the wire wheel.... wash it good a few times then sock in merinal spites.. this how i do them
I am embarrassed. I guess I shouldn't try to post something when I only have a couple of minutes and no time to read over it. I am sorry and I will try to do better. Thank you for reading and answering my post anyway. I really appreciate your help.
