Just received a shovler duck to mount. Do the artificial heads have the detail in the bill with all of the filterlike teeth? Or would it be best to use the origional bill? I want to mount it with a slightly open mouth.

You can carfully cut the feather like teeth off in a strip and zap a gap it back on the repo bill. For the slightly open mouth I would use the origional unless you can find a repo open mouth or make one yourself.

I still use the actual bills & heads. I think the artificial ones look too phony and are harder to paint than the actual bill. I remove most of the back of the skull & replace all with critter clay.
