I'm trying to find out what is the best DP for doing birds. Turkeys,
pheasants, ducks. I tan all my other mounts. I've just heard that it
isn't nescessary to tan birds. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Eric

I haven't found anything better.
I'm a horses ass half the time and don't need the mules.
I use borax, but I got it from a chemical company. I bought three hundred pounds (minimum order) about ten years ago and I still have a hundred left. This borax is finer grain and partially anhydrous(without water). I believe it is 7% moisture. It really sticks to the skin and dries up any bits of flesh that don't come off. I believe this is the same borax the suppliers sell. I wouldn't use this kind in a tumbler. Some folks put borax in the tumbler with grit or sawdust. I don't reccommend this because it begins drying out the skin too soon.
Good Mounting

I have used borax in the past but find Instant Preserve alot cleaner to use and does a better job in my opinion. It's a couple of dollars more expensive but well worth the cost.
