For about a buck (that's one , $1.00) you too can have a paint schedule! It's a small price to pay... Or even better for about $25.00 you can get the Breakthrough waterfowl and bird finishing manual. That has well over 40 differnt schedules, for just about everything.

I used the paint schedules but did not like them. I have found it alot better to simply look at a fresh bill or photo. You should see alot of bleeding colors such as orange,reds, possibly shades of blue. So I first paint the flesh then some transp. orange, a little transp. red, then some yellow ocre then back to some flesh. Melt, blend colors. If not satisfied repeating some steps until it looks the way I like it. Then coat with mod podge for the waxy look. For the feet a basecoat such as flesh or yellow ocre, then add some transp. orange, yellow ocre then try to highlight feet with a wash of white.
