How long does it take to get you Federal Taxidermy license for the first time. I sent off for it better then a month ago, and I have guys waiting to bring birds to me that they have had in the freezer since last season. How long can I expect to wait?

Nick,
When I applied for my federal license it took about 2 weeks for them to call me, and about 4 days later I had the license in the mail to me. You might want to give them a call and see what the hold up is. They also told me that if I made copies of all applications that I had sent for that I could start taking in work, before the actual license came back, but that is another one that you may want to ask them about if you call them. Hope this helps.

remeber you are dealing with the government here. It can take up to 12 weeks to get your license. That's what I was told when I applied.
It took me about 4 months the first time I got one back in the 70's and some times now , its 2 to 6 months . They say we have you on file.
Fish and Wildlife service has an understanding. They take forever and if your app. is in your OK. Local and state may be different.
You can take in work if the app is in.

I had the same problem when I first got mine and I asked if there was any way I could take in work while I was waiting for my permit. I was told under NO CIRCUMSTANCES COULD I ACCEPT MIGRATORY BIRDS WITHOUT PERMIT IN HAND! If you plan on going that route I would at LEAST get the name of the person that told you that or better yet an Email stating that your in the clear. The FEDs can make your life miserable when they get lost in their own bureaucracy.
Be careful my friend. Bill K.
