How to switch real legs

Submitted by Tim on 01/30/2003. ( ) 12.254.200.157

Okay, I know someone is going to tell me just like artificial legs, right?
I have never used artificial legs before. I have a Goldeneye that has one bad leg. I have another that I can take one off of, but how do you attach it to the bird? What type of glue and how do you hide the cut line?
Thanx, Tim

Cut the leg off just above the scales

Ok dont cut the bone, you will need the bones.

Cut the skin where the feathers start, dont cut the feather or the leg bone. Wire as you normally would. If you inject the legs, wrap the top 1/8 th inch with floss a touch of super glue, and inject.

At this point you can even paint it if you want to.

Skide the wire and wrapped bone up into the little hole where the other leg was removed. Postion the duck, (hey dont jump ahead) once the preening is 1/2 done. Put a dab, just a touch of super glue gel (USE THE GEL OR YOU WILL BE SORRY) pull the skin down and postion it on the legs, just dab the super glue gel, adjust as needed.

You want the skin just to touch the scaled area.

Thanx
