What is the best way to clean a white turkey for taxidermy? What steps would you use to clean the bird? Thanks in advance and God Bless.

Be more specific. What do you mean by "clean". Do you mean its dirty, bloody, yellowed? Is this an old mount full of tobacco stains? Is this a new mount and you want to know how to wash it after skinning it?
It is a new mount. The guy killed it on a rainy day. It does have some blood stains but is mostly just has a dirty dungy look to it. Hope this helps. Thanks
Well personally im a youngin only 15, but i have dont plenty of bloody waterfowl. Well if you have the bird frozen now and you just see that it is bloody that is definently not a problem. All you have to do is after you flesh it was it in dawn dish washing soap. I have always gotten out the blood out of all my mounts with this, but if it is a stubborn blood stain there are many blood removal agents to help you with this. Van Dykes has a big supply of these. OK now that was for the scenerio that the bird is still frozen and you have not mounted it. But if you have the bird mounted now and it looks like that you may have not gotten all the meat and grease out of it and thats why it had changed that color, and if your customer does not like it and wont pay anything for it you can redo the mount. This is VERY RISKY when you try to redo a bird mount it either works or it dont. You will have a 50/50 chance usually to rehydrate the skin that is the hardest part. The best way to do that is to set him in warm soapy water. I hope I helped you out a bit.
Go to Walmart and buy some oxi-clean. Put your bird in a tub of water and wash with dawn. Massage the dawn into the feathers and then sprinkle in the oxi-clean. Massage in the oxi-clean also and let it set for 15 minutes or so. after this is done rinse the skin till the water is crystal clear. There should be NO soap left in the feathers. After this is done dorax the skin, tumble it, dry it and mount er up.
Good luck.
