Is it easier to leave the tail on , or off tumbling a pheasant?
iv'e seen both methods and wonder what is the right road to take.

I take them off. I like finishing them just like you would a turkey and tacking them in place after the mount is complete. It also makes for easier cleaning of the feather bracts and eliminating the fatty tail area.

. . . I'm with George, it is much better for all intents and purposes to remove them. I hot glue them to as small of piece of cardboard as possible according to what the mount is going to dictate the tail to look like, then attach that assembly as a whole to your tail wire. Very clean and easy process. Try it you will like it!
