calking as hide paste?

i'm pretty new on birds, but i heard of using calking as a hide paste for birds. what's the deal with that? has anyone used calking? try to give some advantages of it please and whether or not you were happy with the results. thanks!

Birds do not need hide paste....

You can use caulking in the wings and a little on the head area but you not glue bird skins.

It holds the feather butts in position, allowing you to pose them any way you wish. It will also keep the skin from shifting after you taxi it into position. It eliminates drumming.
And (this is for Buck) it is not a bad idea to use it over the whole form if you are competing. Drumming is just as much a no-no on birds as it is on gameheads.

Did you ever get dinged for a bird DRUMMING? Bet it was a grouse! People with the skill and experience you have might get away with that, but NOT using adhesive on a bird allows for your subtle screwups to "drum" themselves out. No glue here, either. Glue is for REAL TAXIDERMY. LMAO

What Nancy said. Also Caulk helps solidify wing bones and leg bones. Once it hardens the mechanical soundness is better than you can achieve any other way.
