If you throw it away, you will never know, or learned any more from your project. Go ahead and answer your own question to see if you can do what you are thinking. You will get different answers, some say no, I personally have done it with no problems. I had a pheasant that I had mounted, and got a third with it, resoaked it, put a threaded rod in the leg, wrapped a new body, bondoed the leg rod into the body, and remounted in a new pose, and got a second with it. If it would have fell apart during the resoaking, then I would have thrown it out and got a new one to start over. But, when you are about to throw something out and start over, you should go ahead and try what you are asking, it is all a learning experience, and that is how you gain knowledge. Good luck,
