Anyone know any specific characteristics to differentiate between a lesser canada and a richardsons? Any help would be great!
Also, I'm looking for nice gobbler in good shape to mount for display. Any help there would be appreciated too.
Thanks, F. Smith

This is from the book ducks, geese and swans of N. america . The richardsons has a lighter color underside almost uniform in color as the breast color with more of a barred pattern on the black part of the neck . The lesser has an underside color like the wing color shading to lighter toward the neck. The white barring on the black neck is less defined .The richardsons is the 2nd smallest of the 11 subspecies . The book doesnt list the weight for this subspecies but it looks to be about 3 1/2 lbs for a male richardsons and 6 lbs for the male lesser . If you need more info , I can give you the bill , wing and tail lengths , just ask . rick
Besides being about half the size of a leesor. A Richardson's looks much like a cackler except the coloring is more blue on the chest and belly. The Culman also has a slight hump or Roman nose look.
