its on for all you turkey talking, long beard chasin spring hunting fanatics (like me)...had the day off today so figured i would start doing a little homework for the up coming turkey season (march 22nd here) well like a symphony orchestra i heard 5 different birds carrying on at first light this morning (25 feb you believe it!)
in case your wondering im in northern georgia (dawsonville forest to be exact) so if your down south (as i know from experience the birds aint ready for any talking up north yet)go out and get the bug....cuz its only 3 1/2 weeks away.

P.S. i know this has nothing to do with taxidermy but i just cant contain myself when the birds start a singing so its worth the barrage of "keep the subject to taxidermy" etc. etc. etc replies

Well....

That's good to hear Eric except that we got another 10 inches of snow last night. A "weather watcher" neighbor just told me that put us over the 200 inch mark for the season. I have no place left to put snow. My parking lot has shrunk by 2/3 and I can't get my truck into the garage because of the ever growing snow pile. Not sure why, but God thinks Waterford, PA needs some more snow.
Now, where did you say those birds were gobbling?

i know your pain

Turkey Gooble year round.

I have a score to settle with a few birds this spring, but they have goobled year round here even last year when White river was frozen, this birds would gobble, same for the ones out in Kansas.
We are sitting with 4 inches of snow and this is our fourth ground covering snow. Nothing by northern standard, but closes down the state here.

yes they do

Gobbling here too

Eric good luck with the turkey huntin, but about the turkeys up north not gobbling yet, they are I live in Pa and they are gobblin there heads off in the morning. Temperature and weather are things to consider but its the length of daylight that turns them on, its called photoperiodism. It also dictates when the does come into estrus in the fall. Have fun with them turkey , our season doesn't
start until the end of April. Rick
