I was wondering if the bird blower that authentic supplies is selling is worth the money. Right now i use a hair dryer and it is drying out the skin to fast. Just wondered if the blower is worth the 250$ price tag?

I would say no but........

I have never owned one. For birds - a tumbler for 8 minutes and then a blow dryer ( not hot ) to dry the down is all you need. For anything else - get yourself a small shopvac ( $35 ) and reverse the hose and ONLY use it for this purpose. Also if your skin is drying out quickly, keep a spray bottle with H2O and spritz the inside skin periodically.

Nothing you currently use can come close to this simple little box. The volume of air far exceeds either a vaccuum cleaner or a hair dryer. The heat is a very gentle heat, unlike most hair dryers whose short spouts make controlling the heat impossible. You'll be able to lift feathers and dry them in half the time you've been used to using. If you do lots of birds OR big birds like turkeys and geese, this is a great investment.

I just purchased one and it works great on ducks. It dries out the down and fluffs the birds up great. It also allows you to cut down on tumbler time. If you do alot of birds, its worth the investment.

well , there you go

Erik, for cripes sake, it's a BLOWER. Are you asking if those other things work? Certainly, and quite well, I might add, but the degree to which they work is directly correlated to your own experience and talent. Nancy Mulligan or Tony Finazzo will mount a better bird than me by blowing air through a straw than I will with my fancy bird blower. It won't make you either better or worse than you are, but it'll do the job it advertises quite well.

vac, hair dryer combo

I duct taped a shop vac hose to the top of my hairdryer. Cool air and warm together. works fast, though I admit it looks a little bit hillbilly. The combo works wonderful in my opinion, especially for the price. I believe in quality tools, but this rig works for me

Dryer

Surely it would work as advertised. But like someone said before, depends on what you have to spend and especially how many times you will use it. Only you can decide if it will be cost effective to purchase it. If you only do a couple birds a year then what is an extra couple minutes with a blow dryer. I use a blow dryer with cold-warm-hot settings and use the warm setting which works great for me. By using the warm setting instead of the cold in cuts the drying time by 2/3's. And I have not seen any difference in the birds by drying with warm air except the time it takes to dry them. I also wash/rinse my birds in warm water with a final cold water rinse to fininsh up. Warm water helps cut the grease much better than cold water and I have never had a problem with it either.

Sears has a 1hp shop vac for $19.00 that blows great and even gets warm after a while. Then use it to pick up corn cob grit you blew out of feathers. Different attachments vary the amount of air.
