Preserving feet?

Hi,
I live in New Zealand, and have been looking for a hawk for several years now(a dead one as I could never bring myself to kill one of these magnificant creatures, that and I am pretty sure they are protected) anyway I stumbled across one the other day, roadkill by the look of it. Upon closer inspection this specimen wasquite badly damaged however i have managed to salvage both feet and 1 wing.
As I know nothing about taxidermy etc I was hoping for some guideance on what I need to do to the feet to preserve them?Do they need to be treated with something or will they keep left natural?same question applies to the wing also, how do i ensure its presevation?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Cheers LJB

In the US these birds are highly protected that are accompanied with severe penalties if they are even in your possesion . I dont know about New Zealand but if I were you I would treat it like used toilet paper if you know what I mean!

Coot is right.Im no expert in game laws, but do know that in the states you are playing with fire owning any part of a bird of prey, feathers, feet, anything, without proper paper work.Which is not easy to obtain.Id recomend you donate it to the local garbage man and move on.
