Wall Base for flying birds

What is the most economic way (considering appearance and time involved) to display a flying duck or pheasant on a wall? Use wood, panel etc...? Thanks to all that respond.

you ansewered your own question. You could aslo just insert a wire with a loop against the wall an not have any wood ect.

Fence post

On upland birds, I like to use a small section of old fencepost. I even attach a chunk of old barbed wire. You can scavange old post for free. Makes for a nice rustic back. It also allows me to mount the bird a bit further from the wall so the bird doesnt look like you threw it against the wall and it stuck there! Drift wood is great for ducks and quite affordable from most dealers
