Do you have a Walmart in you area? If so, try looking for "20 Mule Team Borax" in a green box. It is usually located with the laundry detergent and bleach.
Maybe this will help.
Thanks,
Michael
Its called boraxo. it was b4 borax and it is almost the same stuff. it comes in a can like comet. depending where ur at it might b hard 2 find. like here in ms its everywhere but when i go totexas i cant find it no whur
...Wal Mart doesn't carry it. They used to, but I guess not many people bought it. I usually get it from a grocery store called Wegmans. This is a chain in Western New York, but if you have a Safeway, Acme, or any other large grocery chain around you, check there in the detergent and cleaning section. Like these other folks stated look for "20 Mule Team" or "Boraxo".If you can't find it, I THINK you can use corn meal. I could be wrong though. Good Luck

Borax is a substance mined from the ground and is an ingredient in 'Boraxo' hand soap. 20 Mule Team Borax is over 99% pure Borax. Never used Boraxo instead but it may work. I have used corn meal when skinning birds that I intend to eat, then switched to borax to flesh the skin.
Seems to me corn meal might be pretty attractive to beetles...
I can't imagine a fully stocked grocery store without 20 Mule Team Borax ... especially since cloth diapers have become politically correct. And Walmart should normally have it too. Talk to the manager and ask them what the deal is.
Avoid Boraxo! If it gets on feathers that are even the very slightest bit damp it will cake up and mat them.
Since they are only wings you might be able to get by with just plain table salt if you get ALL of the meat out beforehand. It will make them "sweat" a lot of moisture (which will also mat the feathers) so be prepared to drain them somehow.
If it were me, I would freeze them until borax could be obtained.
