skinning heads

Submitted by Scott on 03/19/2003. ( ) 65.134.9.246

is it possible to partially thaw a bird, skin just the head to allow for casting and then re-freeze with a wet paper towel inside the skin or will this damage the skin. Still slow at casting heads and would like to do this ahead of time if possible, thanks in advance for any help

Should not be a problem

This should not be a problem at all-and should not be harmful to the skin-as long as you re-wrap the bird well to avoid frezzer burn (if you are going to store for a long time). John.

You should have no problem at all. In fact, the head will usually thaw before the rest of the bird anyway, so you can skin it while the main body is still frozen.
